This 2023 Syrah from high up in the Sierra Foothills greets you with expressive aromas of blackberry compote, ripe black cherry, and a subtle thread of blueberry. Underlying those fruit notes are elegant touches of violet blossom and peppered smoke, a nod to the varietal’s Rhône-style roots. The new French oak aging adds a delicate layer of vanilla bean, baking spice (clove and nutmeg), and cedar box, enhancing complexity without overwhelming the fruit.
On the palate the wine is lush and inviting, yet refined. The fruit core is rich — dark plum, bramble-berry and cassis — framed by smooth, fine-grained tannins that give structure without heaviness.
